About Lakes Entrance
Lakes Entrance sits where the Gippsland Lakes meet Bass Strait, at the man-made entrance that opened the lakes to the sea in 1889. A footbridge from the Esplanade crosses to Ninety Mile Beach, so you can swim in the surf in the morning and sit by calm water in the afternoon.
The town runs along the Esplanade, with cafes, fish and chips and one of the largest fishing fleets in Victoria tied up along the foreshore, so fresh local seafood is easy to find. For a view over the whole entrance, drive up to the lookouts at Kalimna.
Our Lakes Entrance holiday homes range from family houses a short walk from the beach to places right on the lake. It's also a handy base for day trips to Buchan Caves, Lake Tyers and Metung.
